Explore the future of sustainable living with the next generation

As we look towards 2030, we reached out to the very people who wil be setting up their own homes between now and then – the youth of today – to learn how they envision a better, more sustainable tomorrow.

Shaping a better future

The youth of today are the ones who will be setting up their own homes in a decade’s time. And they are the ones who will live with the consequences of our choices today. They are in fact the first generation who will be worse off than their parents.

In order to help give them a better tomorrow, we launched our Better Living 2030 initiative to learn more about their future needs and wants. As a first step, we conducted a global survey of 14,000 young people aged between 15-20 to learn more about the world from their perspective and how they want to live when they set up their own homes.

We wanted to understand what worries them most about the planet’s health, what they are passionate about and what choices they want to have in the future to help them preserve food better, make their clothes last longer and improve wellbeing in their homes.

The conversation didn’t stop there. We also invited young people to join a global Team of Change-Makers to co-create better living in 2030. Eight young people from seven countries were selected to take part in creative sessions led by the Innovation Hub at Electrolux to explore solutions for better living, focusing on the future of clothes and garment care.

As a company with a presence in hundreds of millions of homes, we have an opportunity to create real change. And we strongly feel that we have a responsibility to forthcoming generations to act before it’s too late.

By learning from young people, we hope to help give them the future they want and deserve.
